My brother and sister-in-law’s baby is due next week. I haven’t talked to them since they told me about the baby 8 months ago. I have no idea what this baby is going to bring. Please be in prayer for my family, specifically my parents. I can’t even begin to explain the pain of this situation. Also, pray for Jonathan (my brother), Paige, and this new baby. Pray for me, that I would be able to reach out and continually love them (and what that looks like).

Breakthrough
In Uncategorized on July 17, 2008 at 7:00 amBIG NEWS: My nephew, Zachariah, LIKES me! After a huge episode on Monday about not wanting to sit by me in the car, he’s had a change of heart! Now he wants to wrestle, jump on my back, play baseball and begs me to fight him. I realize that sounds like he hates me but he’s four and apparently fighting means love at this age?? (so says my family) So to win him over- I “fight” him. (My best weapon is tickling.)
I think I’m going to miss these crazy kids.
This is me and Nathanael, my other nephew. I won him over the day I fed him his bottle. I don’t have a picture of me and Zachariah-doi, he just started to like me! Thats our next step.
Meet Destiney
In Uncategorized on July 6, 2008 at 2:53 amThis is Sarah, me and Destiney at the library. Destiney is one of the girls from the apartments I’ve gotten to know this summer. She is one of 9 children- and a twin! The first time I met her she was trying to pick a fight with everyone. Like putting her fist up ready to take someone out. As we’ve spent time with her, we’ve seen her change and her toughness begin to soften. It has been amazing to watch this beautiful girl unfold! For the past couple of weeks she’s been begging me and Sarah to take her to the library. ( a girl just like me- loves the library!) So on Thursday we took her out for her birthday- and to the library! She was so cute- oh my goodness! It was like she was nervous excited. We told her we could do whatever she wanted- and she just kept saying, “well I want to do whatever you guys want to do.” I absolutely loved getting to spend time with her and take her out! Sarah and I have decided to do this each week! I can’t wait to see what God is going to do in this sweet friendship.
Please pray for Destiny and this friendship. Thank you so much! Hope everyone is doing well!
much love,
julie

In Uncategorized on July 2, 2008 at 9:47 amI have reached the mid-way part of my internship. I cannot believe it! Today we celebrated with rootbeer floats! Yumm!
My favorite thing so far has been the people I’ve gotten to know. They are wonderful, seriously. Let me tell you about a few…
1. Sarah and David: They both intern with me in the outreach ministry. We spend our entire days laughing. I’m not exaggerating. Today we were preparing for a craft in this room secluded from everyone else and we just started having a stuffed animals/ bean bag fight. This was after we had turned on music, found all these different instruments and danced around the room playing them. Seriously, all day we are ridiculously goofy. Sarah could have her own number so I’m going to go on about her. She is the person I spend the most time with her. We seriously spend more time together then apart. Shes willing to go read at starbucks with me, come hang out when I babysit, go see movies or just chill at the beach! You have no idea what a blessing it is for me to have someone to hang out with like this. Also, her love and passion for the Lord challenges and encourages me. She’s what I would call my Michigan best friend.
2. Todd and Bethany: This is my “brother” and “sister-in-law”. They have been nothing but completely giving and sharing of everything they have. I haven’t had to pay for any groceries all summer! They make me dinner every night too. I am so spoiled by them. They set up a sweet room for me in their basement with anything I could ever need too. Also, they are godly examples, encouraging, kind- the kind of people you want to rub off on you!
3. Kristin Merkle: This girl is so sweet. She just graduated from high school and went on the Philly trip. She gives the biggest and best hugs- which as lame as this sounds, I’ve missed getting hugs until I became good friends with her. She is really mature for her age and truly seeking to glorify the Lord with her life. She is encouraging to be around.
These are just a few of my friends here that have blessed me. God is so good to me- putting these people in my life. They have shown me different characteristics of my King and only drawn me closer to Him. I am so grateful!
As I was praying about this summer before I even got here, a friend of mine asked me what I had hoped for and prayed for this coming summer. I really couldn’t think of anything except that I would find true joy in my King and serving him. I can quickly and easily tell you, the Lord heard my prayer. Not that everyday is perfectly fulfilling and joy filled, but my summer has definitely been full of joy that only He can give.
Thank you for the prayers and support. Please continue to pray for the kids we are working with. Pray relationships would be built that would further God’s kingdom. Also pray we would use our time wisely and truly serve the Lord with the last half of our summer. He deserves all that we can give- and then some.
“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
Galatians 6:14
